Internship Opportunity with Sikhs in Clinical Research (SICR)

Are you passionate about making a difference in healthcare and advocating for underrepresented communities? Sikhs in Clinical Research (SICR) is offering an exciting internship opportunity for motivated individuals eager to contribute to our mission of raising awareness about clinical research within the Sikh community.

As an intern, you will have the chance to:

  • Gain hands-on experience conducting community surveys, patient advocacy, research literacy, and community outreach.
  • Organizing events and educational programs to spread awareness about clinical research opportunities.
  • Collaborate on outreach initiatives, including educational booths, social media campaigns, and Punjabi language resource development.
  • Work closely with experienced professionals in clinical research to gain insight into industry best practices.

This internship is ideal for students or early-career professionals interested in clinical research, public health, or community engagement. While the internship is unpaid, there may be opportunities for paid projects or stipends for outstanding contributions based on project needs.

Requirements:

  • Age 21+
  • US work authorization
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Interest in clinical research, patient advocacy, and public health.
  • Medical background preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Punjabi and English language proficiency (Reading, Speaking, Writing).
  • Availability to travel during weekends as needed (Travel costs will be covered by the SICR)

Commitment:

  • 15-20 hours per week (including weekend hours)
  • Remote work with bi-weekly in-person events and weekly meetings.

Mentor-Mentee Program (APPLICATION FOR THE YEAR 2024 IS CLOSED)

  • For potential mentees, this is a great opportunity to connect with a mentor who can offer you insight and advice– and help you navigate the next stage of your career. Seeking direction from mentors at the beginning of the new career and when growing your career could be incredibly useful. Learning from mentors' career journeys in organizational structure, workplace dynamics, and as firm leaders could bring new synergy to you.

  • For potential mentors, this is a great opportunity to give back, become a great leader, and expand your network. We are calling for mentors to assist in the development of great minds looking to develop and succeed in a career in the clinical research industry. If you’re interested in helping increase diversity in clinical research and can spare 2-4 hours a month, we need you! We're looking for mentors in various areas of clinical research such as Regulatory, Data Management, Clinical Operations, Quality Assurance, and many more.


    The SICR is now accepting applications for its First annual Mentor-Mentee Program!

    The program is designed to connect industry professionals with candidates (21+ age) who are seeking guidance and direction academically or professionally. Alongside mentor-mentee matching, the program will also include workshops, webinars, and networking events-- the benefits of starter membership. Each mentor and mentee need to be a member of SICR.

  • CAN I APPLY TO THE MENTOR-MENTEE PROGRAM?
    You should apply as a mentee if you are a student (21+), graduate, or early professional looking for academic or professional advice in healthcare/clinical research.

    EXPECTATIONS FROM MENTORS AND MENTEES

  • Mentors:
    Must be an SICR member and Industry expert
    Meet with mentee for at least 1-2 hours a month
    Encouraged to attend other SICR events and meetups

    Mentees:

    Must be a SICR member, Age 21+, A student, graduate, or early professional looking for academic or professional advice
    Set up meetings with your mentors, including providing an agenda and specific questions before each meeting
    Respond to the mentor in a timely fashion and be mindful of the mentor’s time and other responsibilities
    Attend other SICR events and meetups
